Second Chances, Real Jobs

For 18+ years, the Second Chance Program at Impact Sand & Gravel has hired people who needed one. Felony history. Recovery. Homelessness. Veterans in transition. A steady job at one of our Las Vegas quarries, full ISG benefits, and, when it is needed, a roof over your head on site.

Why We Run Second Chance

The Second Chance Program was started by then-General Manager Bill Mulligan. He was looking for a practical way to help the growing homeless population in Las Vegas, and he believed that everyone, regardless of their past, deserves a shot at steady work. That was 18+ years ago. The idea has not changed.

People coming out of incarceration, recovery, or homelessness often face real disadvantages when they try to find a job or a place to live. Applications get pulled out of the stack. Housing applications get denied. The Second Chance Program is built to remove those disadvantages and put work and stability back within reach.

The first candidate we hired was Cody Huff. He went on to found Broken Chains, a ministry that serves the Las Vegas homeless community. He was not the last. More than 200 people have been hired through the program since, and several of our longest-tenured employees, including managers, started here.

A Job, a Roof, and a Path Forward

Second Chance is not a referral program. It is direct employment at ISG with a real paycheck on a real schedule. For hires who need housing, we provide furnished trailers at one of our three ISG-operated quarries in the Las Vegas area. Ninety-day initial stay, renewable month to month after that.

The rest of the program is built around keeping people stable long enough to build something. Job training on the quarry. Life-goal and financial coaching. Potential financial assistance. Full ISG benefits. Room to move up in role and pay when you put in the work.

Second Chance, Piece by Piece

The parts of the program that make second chance hiring actually work in practice, not just on paper.

A Real Job, Day One

Most Second Chance hires start as General Laborers at one of our Las Vegas quarries. The work is physical. You help maintain crushing equipment and keep the pit crew running. It pays on a regular schedule, and there is a clear path to move up in position and wage when the work speaks for itself.

Housing at the Quarry

For hires who need it, the program provides free housing in furnished trailers at one of our three ISG-operated quarries. The initial stay is 90 days. After that, it runs month to month at the discretion of management. Housing is offered based on availability and need, not to every hire.

Job Training and Skills

You learn the trade on the job. Equipment maintenance, pit operations, heavy labor, and the safety work that keeps a quarry running. People who stick with it pick up skills that travel with them for the rest of their working life.

Coaching and Support

Life-goal and financial coaching is part of the program, not a bolt-on. When it is useful, financial assistance is available. The point is stability. A steady job and a place to sleep are the first pieces. The rest follows.

Full ISG Benefits

Second Chance employees receive the same full-time benefits every other ISG team member gets. This is not a shadow program. You are on the team.

A Path Forward

Some of our longest-tenured employees, including managers, started through Second Chance. Dozens of people from the program have gone on to own homes, build savings, and run stable lives. The ceiling is whatever you are willing to build toward.

If You Have Been Turned Down Everywhere Else

Second chance employment for felons, people in recovery, and folks rebuilding after hard years. If any of this describes where you are, read on.

People With a Felony Record

We hire felons. Background history is not an automatic disqualifier at ISG. We look at the person, the qualifications, and the work in front of us. If you can pass a drug test, lift 40 pounds, and show up, we will have a real conversation.

People in Recovery

If you are working a recovery program and need a steady job to build on, this is the program. Clear policies, consistent work, and a team that will not ask you to hide where you came from.

People Coming Out of Homelessness

The original reason the program exists. If housing is the piece that is missing, we may be able to help with that directly through a trailer at the quarry, alongside the job itself.

Veterans in Transition

If you are a veteran working through reentry to civilian life and need steady work with people who respect the discipline you already have, we want to hear from you.

The Basic Requirements

Felon friendly jobs in Las Vegas still require the work to get done. Here is what every Second Chance hire signs up for.

Physical Work

Able to lift 40 pounds and perform other heavy labor in outdoor quarry conditions.

Drug Test

Able to pass a pre-employment drug test. ISG runs a safe, sober jobsite.

Policies

Willing to follow all rules and policies set by ISG, including housing rules if housing is provided.

Showing Up

Consistent attendance and a real commitment to the work. The program is for people ready to build something.

From First Hire to Broken Chains

Cody Huff was the first Second Chance hire. He came into the program needing what most Second Chance candidates need. A job, stability, and a team that would judge him by the work rather than his record. He took the work, built his life back up, and then built something bigger. Today he runs Broken Chains, a ministry serving the Las Vegas homeless community.

His story is the program in miniature. Dozens of other candidates have gone on to own their own homes, build financial freedom, and run long careers at ISG. Some of our managers came up through Second Chance. When people ask what second chance hiring actually does, this is the answer.

Applying for the Second Chance Program

Applications go through our iSolved hiring portal. Submit your application and mention Second Chance. If your background fits an open role at one of our Las Vegas quarries, we will reach out and schedule an interview. The interview is a real conversation. We ask about your situation, the work you can do, and what you are trying to build.

If you would rather speak to a person first, call our office at (702) 597-1010 during business hours. Ask about the Second Chance Program. We will walk you through the qualifications and next steps before you apply.
