Red Decorative Rock for Las Vegas Landscapes, Mined Locally

Warm-tone red rock mined right inside the valley. Two sizes for borders, accents, or full ground cover. Delivered from the only decorative rock quarry inside Las Vegas itself.

The Only Decorative Rock Quarry Inside the Las Vegas Valley

Most decorative rock you see in a Vegas yard is trucked in from outside the valley. Ours comes from Jericho Quarry, one of ISG's internally-operated pits, which sits inside the metro itself. That shortens the haul, which keeps freight lower and delivery windows tighter. When a Vegas yard has ISG red rock in it, that rock was actually mined in Vegas.

  • Shorter haul, lower freight. Your delivery doesn't cover a hundred miles before it gets to your driveway.
  • Tighter delivery windows. Inventory sits in the valley instead of two hours away.
  • True local product. The rock is mined and stockpiled inside the Las Vegas Valley.

This Is Not Lava Rock

Lava rock is porous volcanic scoria. It's lightweight, full of air pockets, and imported from out of state. ISG's red rock is a heavy, dense, mined decorative aggregate. They are two different products with two different applications. If you are looking for lava rock, this page does not cover it.

Not From Red Rock Canyon

ISG's red landscape rock is not from Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. That land is federally protected, so no one can harvest from it. Our red rock comes from Jericho Quarry, a commercial pit inside the valley.

Warm-Tone Iron-Oxide Red That Holds Its Color for Decades

Red decorative rock is a warm-tone, brick-red landscape aggregate used for xeriscape, borders, pathways, and decorative ground cover across the Las Vegas Valley. The color comes from natural iron oxide in the stone itself. It isn't a surface dye or a coating. The red you see on install day is the red you'll see in twenty years.

Two Sizes, Different Jobs

2x4 inch red decorative rock las vegas
Bold Accent

2x4 Inch Red Rock

Larger, more dramatic pieces that read as intentional design from the street. Best for borders, focal areas, and rocked mounding. About 108 sq ft per ton at 2" depth.

1x4 inch red decorative rock las vegas
Versatile Mid-Size

1x4 Inch Red Rock

A versatile mid-size option. Packs tighter than the 2x4 for a more even surface. Better for open fields, mixed-material designs, and walkable areas. Approximately 108 sq ft per ton at 2" depth.

Pro tip: Use the 2x4 for the front 2-3 feet of a planter bed as a "frame," then fill with 1x4 behind it. The size change adds depth without a color break.

Where Red Rock Works

  • Xeriscape conversions. Warm-tone color punch for SNWA rebate projects.
  • HOA-compliant ground cover. Most Vegas HOAs allow red in approved palettes. Confirm with your association.
  • Driveway accents and pathway edging. 2x4 at the edges, DG or pea gravel in the walkable middle.
  • Fire pit and patio surrounds. Solid aggregate rather than porous lava.
  • Boulder base and mounding. 2x4 under boulders looks like it belongs there.
  • Commercial and multifamily. Holds color under full sun at medians, parking strips, and entries.

What to Plant with Red Rock

Red rock plays well with cool-tone plants. The contrast is what makes it work.

Silver / blue foliageBlue yucca, agave americana, desert spoon
Green-grayDesert broom, creosote, sage
Bright floweringRed yucca, penstemon for pink pops
HardscapeCream stucco, natural wood, Corten steel

Avoid pairing red rock with pink hardscape (older Vegas homes). That's too much warm tone. If that's your existing palette, look at Rose Rock or Brown Rock instead.
